That's what the bag says, and after a full day of Lockhart barbecue, my palate was tuned to oak like a radio dial. We stopped in to the Lockhart shop, tucked into Primrose Plaza on South Main. Cute as can be — open garage glass window, a sitting area with a fireplace, fun shirts on display (Photo of the fun oak-roasted shirt with the Chemex and bonfire, ‘by fire. for fire’, sitting next to it( plus two more reasons to return!).
I had the Autumn Moon, he had the Velvet Blaze drip, and of course the pumpkin cream cheese pop tart. Velvet Blaze is their signature oak-roasted blend: seven origins, roasted over a live fire, "the secret in every cup" — the base of almost every Summer Moon drink, mixed with their signature Moon Milk.

Sunday morning, we brewed Summer Moon's autumn blend at home — drip, nothing fancy — and you could really taste the oak roast. Not barbecue smoke. Hearth smoke. Sweet walnut and chocolate caramel underneath, exactly like the bag promises. Drinking this made me feel like I was on a dude ranch slugging down a cup of joe and watching the sun rise on the day. In my mind, a pre-requisite for any dude ranch experience in Texas. Sign me up for both!
